The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is publishing a progress report from its review of investigations involving a death. The progress report provides an update on the progress of the review.
It also focuses on key themes that have emerged from the consultation in the following areas:
- The independence of the IPCC
- IPCC engagement with bereaved families
- Effectiveness of IPCC investigations
The report outlines the IPCC’s response to some of these concerns and the actions they are currently taking or have planned for the future.
The progress report does not aim to address all the areas raised during the consultation process. The IPCC will be concluding the review at the end of the year and publishing a final report shortly after which will detail the full findings of the consultation and our programme of actions.
